BUFFALO WING REVIEWS
TOP 10
Here is the list of my favorite 10 Buffalo-style wings and where you'll find them!
01 (Honorary)
Honey's - The Original - Pine Street, Niagara Falls, NY USA
4 Drummies. The Holy Grail of Wings. Sadly, no longer in business. Yes, they were inexpensive. But never at the cost of quality. A little on the small side, which is the way they should be. Tossed in the most delectable Buffalo wing sauce ever, with a hint of vinegar and then touched up in the pizza oven. Back in the day when Hot wings meant Hot. And if you dared to try the Suicide (usually to impress girls), you made sure not to walk behind them when bringing them from the order window to your table. The fumes were overpowering. Those were the days; the beer was cold and the Boone's Farm Strawberry Wine was only a buck a bottle. Closed up in the 1990's. Not to be confused with the Honey's locations near the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall.
02
Turtle Jacks - Mapleview Mall, Burlington Ontario Canada
3 Drummies. Consistently good. Two sizes offered, Roasters (larger) and Fryers (smaller). I favour the Fryers and take them Plain (not Dusted, as in Breaded - more on that later). Sauce choices abound at Turtle Jack's but call me old-fashioned: I recommend the Extreme New York Butter. You won't regret it.
03
The Original Anchor Bar - Main Street, Buffalo NY USA
3 Drummies on the good days - and most days are good at the Anchor Bar, the birthplace of Buffalo-style chicken wings 50 years ago. Sometimes a bit oversized and under-cooked, but always bathed in a nice balance of saucy crispness. You can't beat the price and the ambience. Insider tip: be sure to order some pizza with your wings - loaded with mozzarella, a little goes a long way - and you won't need to add oil for a month.
04
Wendel Clark's - Burlington ON
Downtown Burlington - the right stuff.
05
Nine Fine Irishmen - Las Vegas Strip Location
Great place at New York New York Hotel and Casino - on strip.
06
Uptown Social House - Burlington ON
Midtown Pub knows their Buffalo Wings!
07
Southcote 53 Tap & Grill - Ancaster ON
Surprisingly good wings and a great menu overall.
08
Thirsty Moose Pub & Eatery - Carleton Place ON
Fabulous wings in a quaint little town.
Drop in if you're headed to or from Ottawa.
09
Still looking - Mister B's (Niagara Falls NY) is a contender.
Great place right across the border from Canada.
10
Might be Duff's Famous Wings - when I next try them.
Locations in Buffalo area and now around Toronto.

Dishonorable Mention - Kelsey's
Not even close. 1 Drummie at best. Seemed to be re-heated from frozen. Believe me, fresh chicken wings are mandatory. Big and gnarly with unevenly-applied sauce that seemed lost on a foam mattress of breading. And we were there on Wing Day, so no excuses.
